The F-35A Lightning II "Husarz" is a variant of the fifth-generation multirole stealth fighter developed by Lockheed Martin. Designed for the Polish Air Force, the "Husarz" is part of Poland’s strategic defence modernisation programme. The name "Husarz" pays tribute to the famed Polish winged hussars, symbolising strength and speed. Poland committed to purchasing 32 F-35As in 2020, becoming the first Eastern European NATO member to acquire the jet. Deliveries began in the early 2020s, with full operational capability expected by the end of the decade. The aircraft enhances Poland’s air defense with advanced avionics, stealth capabilities, and interoperability within NATO forces. The F-35A "Husarz" represents a significant leap in Poland’s military aviation history and regional deterrence capabilities.
